Alagie Amat Cham, the head Coach of BST Galaxy FC has expressed delight for making a flying start to The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Second Division League tournament.

BST Galaxy FC defeated Kanifing East 1-0 in their debut game of the GFF 2 Division League played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum on Friday.

BST Galaxy formerly called Dibba Oil, scored their only goal of the match through substitute Lamin Sarr in the second period.

“I am very happy for the win and the performance of my boys. It was a very tough game for us because we lost a man in the 7th minute, but we were in a position to defend it up to the end of the first half. Unluckily for them, they also lost a man in the second half, and when we were equal, we were in a position to play the way we really wanted to play our football. Fortunately for us it gave us the opportunity to score the goal and we are very happy that we won the game and collected the three points,” Cham told reporters shortly after the final whistle.

Asked whether he felt any pressure in playing their opening game before their fans, he replied:

“Naturally, football goes with pressure; but for me I told my players to focus because there was a lot of hype about this game. Everybody was coming to see us and the type of team we have. It was today to gain or lose the respect of the people. Fortunately for us we won the game.”

According to him, he was more particular about the performance of his players during their opening game, noting that the primary objective of the club is to prepare players ready to compete internationally and also be very competitive in the league.
