The launching ceremony was witnessed by Regional Youth Council Chairman Mama Salieu Jallow and regional stakeholders in Basse.
The launching ceremony also marked a significant milestone for sports development in the region during the holy month of Ramadan.
The volleyball competition will serve as Upper River Region’s version of the on-going President Adama Barrow Peace Tournament, which was held in other regions that have the capacity to host night football matches under floodlights.
Due to the lack of a standard football stadium with lighting facilities in Basse, the region opted to stage a volleyball tournament to ensure youth participation in the national Ramadan sporting activities.
