Seven villages are participating in the Banni football tournament. Tankong Kunda, Kunting, Bush Town, Dobbo, Yonna, Kujew, Jalokoto and Kunting are vying for the Banni football tournament trophy.
Kunting hammered Bush Town 4-0 in the opening match.
The tournament is organised to improve football at the grassroots level.
The tournament is also aimed at promoting peace and unity among youths.
The organiser of the tournament, Sanna Jambang, a native of kunting stated the tournament is organised to promote unity, peace and also to improve sports at the grassroots level.
The Chief of Sami District, Mam Demba Jallow, thanked Sarjo Jambang for organising the tournament in his ward.
‘‘Politics shouldn't divide us, The Gambia is nation one let speak with one voice,’’ Jallow said.
Councillor for Banni Ward, Sorry Darboe, expressed similar sentiment.
The opening match was witnessed by Sports Chairperson for Sami Mr. Sidibeh and the Alkalo of JalokotoTotala Bah.
