Delivering his statement, President Barrow emphasized that the facility reflects his government’s belief in strengthening sports through sound policies, programs, and standard infrastructure that enable young people to develop and showcase their talent.
He assured continuous investment in sports facilities to provide Gambian athletes and professionals with the opportunities they deserve.
Barrow urged the residents of Serrekunda Central and neighboring communities to take ownership of the stadium and use it responsibly.
He paid tribute to late Omar Amadou Jallow, widely known as O.J Jallow, honouring his legacy by naming the facility after him in recognition of his contributions to national development.
This achievement is the fulfillment of requests made by residents during the 2021 and 2022 “Meet the People” tours to fence the field.
The government, through Ministry of Youth and Sports, celebrates not only the fencing but also the inauguration of a modern sports complex that hosts five different discipline.
