AIPS provides platform for strategic discussion, net working-  SJAG Prexy Jarju

 President of Sports Journalists' Association of The Gambia (SJAG), Omar Jarju, has revealed that AIPS congress would provide platform for strategic discussions and net working.

Jarju was speaking during the launching ceremony of the local organizing committees of AIPS congress held at the Seaview Hotel Tuesday.

"It is with immense pride and deep sense of responsibility that I sit here before you to mark a pivotal moment in the history of sports journalism in our beloved country.

The official launching of the organising committees for the eighth edition of the AIPs Africa congress, is a honour for The Gambia to host AIPS Africa congress in February 2026," Jarju said.

Jarju stated that the landmark event would bring together sports, media professionals, administrators and global sport leaders across Africa and beyond.

He stated that AIPS represents a momentous occasion for The Gambia, adding that this the first time the country is hosting this significant event.

Jarju underscored the nation's growing presence and credibility in the international sports community.

He revealed that AIPS provides a platform for strategic discussions, networking and knowledge exchange on Media development, sports, governance and ethical journalism in the sport industry.

Jarju further revealed that the previous editions of AIPS congresses were hosted in Egypt, Morocco, Senegal and Kenya.

He added that the participants for the AIPS congress include presidents of national sports associations, journalist associations, representatives from major international sport organisations and global media leaders.

 "The journey to this day has been paved with collaboration and unwavering support, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the government of The Gambia for their commitment and support to the event," Jarju said.

Jarju added that The Gambia tourism Board has laid groundworks to ensure the congress is promoted, adding that the country is a desirable sports tourism destination.

"We are grateful for your continuous support to SJAG leadership.
