Twenty-five (25) cricket coaches are currently participating in a five day level one cricket couching course at the Sea View Hotel and Resort in Kololi.
The course is organised by The Gambia National Olympics Committee (GNOC), with funding from The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC).
President of The Gambia Cricket Association, Malamin Fofana, described the course as a significant step in their strategic plan to develop Cricket in The Gambia.
Fofana described the course as more than a certificate, but a responsibility to go back and teach to nurture the next generation of Gambian cricketers.
First Vice President of The Gambia National Olympic Committee, King Colley, assured coaches that GNOC is opened for everybody.
Colley emphasised that two years ago cricket was not recognized as an Olympic sports, but because of the efforts of the ICC, CAF and at national level, cricket was recognized and absorbed into the Olympics sports.
“Sports cannot a brief case office or personally doing everything at your own time.
You need to include people and educate them,” Colley explained.
Colley noted that with the management of GNOC are not looking at the political dimension when it comes to the administration of sports in The Gambia.
He urged participant to feel at ease to apply when they have the program, saying there has been no application that was never been considered since they took the mantle of leadership at the GNOC.
Cooley revealed that it is the responsibility of GNOC to take care of all associations in The Gambia.
International Cricket Council (ICC), Andreh Jarju, revealed that the course is designed to equip cricket coaches with basic knowledge of preparing a session.
