The election took place during the recent meeting of member country representatives in Cairo, Egypt, on September 16th and 17th, 2026.

Among the key issues discussed at this year’s meeting was preparation for the adoption of the new 2027 Antidoping Code, which will guide future policies and practices across the continent.
Member countries of RADO include Ethiopia, Egypt, Uganda, Kenya, Sudan, Rwanda, Somalia, Burundi, South Sudan, The Gambia, Eritrea, Tanzania, and Sierra Leone.
Dr. Jagne’s election is widely regarded as a proud moment for The Gambia, reflecting the country’s commitment to advancing sports ethics and health standards. It also signals a new era of Gambian leadership in regional and international sports governance.
