Tribute to the fallen heroes of NAWEC, which sadly reminds me of the dead of my brother ALHAJI CHAM  a tragedy, we will never forget as long as we live.

Our dearest one and only brother died the same way as these 7 on that unfaithful day of 29 January 1979.

He was also a cable jointer at the then GUC and died on active duty at those High Tension Lines in Abuko while working on top of the pole, when someone carelessly put the transformer on killing him instantly.

He died a young and promising man, an only son to his family. He was loving and caring and very generous. He was always eager and readily available to help/serve wherever and whenever he could and spent all his leisure time with his family. We always remember him in all our daily lives with continued prayers for  Almighty Allah's Mercy on him and upon all our departed loved ones.

The football fraternity not long ago remembered him amongst the best footballers of their time as he was one of the best goalkeepers of his time. He played for both Real and Kwame

It's high time for workers in such  professions to be insured and highly protected on the job.

They should be equipped with suitable protective safety gears in case of such accidents and cared for when injured while on duty.

Our heartfelt condolences to the families of our dear brothers, whom we know of their sufferings at the moment and our prayers to the deceased with wishes of speedy recovery to the injured.

May Almighty Allah  admit them all to Jannatul Firdawsi as Matmrtys and give sustenance to their families.
