The Fatou Network, announced in a Post on January 20:

"The community of Banjul mourns the passing of Ba Kalilou Singhateh of New Perseverance Street, who died earlier this morning.

As a co-founder of the Protectorate People's Society, which later evolved into the People's Progressive Party, he played a significant role in advocating for self-governance and independence", end quote

Sharing my Feedback and 'brief tribute and condolence note to the #SINGHATEH family'

"Thank you The Fatou Network for this Spotlight on the Passing of one of our Nation's finest Statesmen.

I know Hon. Kalilou Foday-Ba Singhateh from Baddibu Fara-baa, up-close-and-personal. He was the person I called "N'kotokeh"-a fountain of wisdom like No other!

My brief tribute and condolence note

■'Salaam Ajja Mrs SINGHATEH and the "#Grand" #Singhateh Family.

I am truly saddened by the passing of my Elder, Gambian Legend, Alhaj Honorable Kalilou Foday-Ba Singhateh, to answer the call of his #MAKER!

INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHI RAJE 'OUN (Surely we come from ALLAH and to ALLAH we shall Return). May ALLAH have mercy on him and grant him JANNAH.

Aameen ALLAH.

Jazzak ALLAAHU Khairan!

Solace and Comiseration for your Loss.

I pray for you to gather the strength and fortitude to persevere the pain of your devastating #Loss, during the difficult period of grief and mourning.

Our nation stands in mourning; mourning the Passing of an Illustrious Son and a Founding father of Gambia.

Hon. Kalilou Foday-Ba Singhateh, a Minister in the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara-headed Government of the first Republic- first elected to parliament in 1962- was a key member of the Gambian delegation that travelled to Marlborough House in London for the Constitutional Conference on Gambian Independence.

He was a Gambian Legend.

Alhagi Kalilou Foday-Ba Singhateh will be remembered for being the #embodiment of #Human #Decency and an #Epitome of #Humility, with a distinguished record of Lifetime work to country and the international community.

Honorable Kalilou Singhateh may be gone but the above Legacy and his Life will last forever and be celebrated by his Widow, Progeny, extended Family and his many friends in Gambia and abroad.

This Larger-than-Life Gambian Statesman, in the person of Alhaj Hon. Kalilou Foday-Ba Singhateh, has come and departed, after helping make this world a better place for us all, than he found it.

In the Exceptional League reserved Only for Africa's top Statesmen, "N'kotokeh"- in my book-was a giant with a hard-to-equal #humility and #Integrity- afable, wise and accessible, each in equal measure.

Rest in the peace Everlasting, of JANNAH, my #Mentor (we overlapped at Armitage Secondary school).

Kalilou was Senior to yours truly and living Gambian Legend and Accomplished Legal Luminary, Fafa E. M'BAI. Fafa and I are of the Armitage Class of '59.

Kalilou didn't stay long in Armitage, however.

Adieu "N'kotokeh", until we meet again. Salamati. Sidi Cherno Jammeh", end of quotation
