A Nation that has moved from poverty to prosperity is worth recognizing and celebrating. It underscores the importance of marching in solidarity and seriousness for self-reliance, independence and development. Hardwork, discipline, sacrifice and foresight are the hallmarks of the great success of the development of The People’s Republic of China. It is the only country in the world that has truly brought development to the door steps of every Chinese citizen. As of 2020, China has eradicated poverty in the country. A committed and visionary leadership of His Excellency XI JINPING, the world’s NO.1 President, has paved the way for the governance of China to be solid, prosperous, economically and politically stable and to assume an enviable position in a new world economic order. H.E XI JINPING had emphasized to the Chinese Communist Congress that “hardwork makes a country flourish and empty talks harms the country.” And indeed if we look at China 45 - 50 years ago, we will see a poor country and underdevelopment everywhere. We will see an agriculture struggling society and rural illiteracy. As a result of this state of underdevelopment, some Capitalist countries pushed their industrial production to China in the search for cheap labour and lower taxes. Many factories were set up and up running with Chinese Labour, hardwork and dedication. To the Capitalists, it was exploitation of China and to the Chinese, it was transfer of skills and knowledge in industry. What has happened in today’s world is that China has become two of the world’s biggest economies and a giant in progress. This is the advantage of a centrally planned and managed economy under visionary leadership and guidance. The greatness of China is that its economic prosperity is shared with the world. China gives more development assistance, financial bail outs, technological and humanitarian gestures to countries of the world than any world power. The transformation of China from poverty driven country to prosperous country has been remarkable and serves as a lesson for the world to learn from. For a country of over a billion plus people to be able to feed itself and to shine as a world economic power, is unprecedented in the history of the world and human existence. My personal experience when I lived and served in China, was I saw everyday that Chinese were faced with renewed energy and confidence in a brighter future. This tells me that in my home country, we must remind ourselves that by our own efforts, we must earn our keep as a people and a Nation. A few years ago when the Chinese people cracked down on African migrant workers in the country, the Chinese government moved swiftly to resolve the problems. That was in recognition of the fact that this is an interdependent world and a clear manifestation of the Chinese government’s desire to maintain South South cooperation and international order in migration policies. However, the world has seen the opposite in migration policies of other countries in the world. China is also a major contributor to international humanitarian endeavours. The country is always prepared to share its wealth with the rest of the world. China has never abandoned her obligations towards the UN, WHO, UNICEF, UNHCR and other international organizations for development in general.
