Nowadays we live with America’s aggression. Not very long ago we witnessed its intention to annex the Green Land, which is under the jurisdiction of Denmark, for its natural resources. We have also witnessed America kidnapping the president of Venezuela, President Maduro, accusing him of dealing in drugs. President Maduro was forced out of his country and flown to America to be tried.
This is illegal. America is using its power to maltreat innocent people. It uses its weapons to attack countries that are not powerful. It is friendly with Israel because of the sophisticated weapons it sells to Israel. This has resulted to a marriage between the two countries. And America will continue backing Israel when it attacks other countries in the Middle East.
Let us go back briefly to history. At the end of 1987, the question of Palestine and that of the Arab-Israeli conflict as a whole remained in the forefront of the international community’s attention as one of the most protracted and difficult of all conflicts. Along with the growing international understanding of the question of Palestine and support for the attainment and exercise by the Palestinian Arab people of its inalienable rights, tension and violence mounted in the region with tragic consequences for the Palestinians.
During the period between September and December 1987, various incidents reflecting the climate of growing unrest among the Palestinian population of the West Bank and Gaza Strip took place. This brief period was marked by numerous violent demonstrations, armed clashes and shootings, leading in some instances to serious injuries and killings, the throwing of petrol bombs and grenades and business and school strikes in various towns, localities, refugee camps and universities in the occupied territory.
The Palestinian problem entered a new phase in early December 1987. The massive uprising of the Palestinian population erupted early that month in the occupied Gaza Strip and then spread to the rest of occupied territory. Four Palestinians died and nine others were injured after an Israeli Defence Force truck struck their vans at an army road block in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinians believed that the deaths were deliberately caused and popular protests followed. The Israeli forces began to use live ammunition against the Palestinian protesters which resulted in high casualties on the Palestinian side.
Following these intense Gaza protests, the Palestinian popular uprising flared up in the West Bank and Jerusalem. To subdue and disperse the all-out Palestinian protest demonstrations, the Israeli Defence Forces, police and Jewish settlers used live ammunition, indiscriminate beatings, as well as other means of repression. And all this while, America has been backing Israel.
The leading aggressor, America, and its ally, Israel, accused Iran of intending to produce a nuclear bomb, and this is why they attacked Iran. The second reason is that they want a regime change in Iran. But on the contrary, international experts monitoring the production of nuclear weapons said that Iran has not produced a nuclear bomb. And if there should be a regime change, it should be in America, which does not respect international law and the principles of democracy and human rights. America and its ally, Israel (non-believers), have disregarded the holy month of Ramadan and attacked Iran and killed its leader.
But they were able to do so because of their Arab allies who allowed them to use their countries as military bases. How hypocritical these Arab countries are! Are they not Muslims? Why allowing America and Israel to attack Iran and killed its leader by using their countries as military bases? They are now paying the price.
It is disappointing that most of our African leaders are keeping quiet, giving a blind eye to the atrocities meted on Iran by America and Israel. Why? Is it because of the kickbacks they receive from the West? They should condemn America and Israel for attacking Iran and killing its leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. They should hit the nail on the head. A Muslim killed in Iran is your brother in Islam.
Brother Madi Jobarteh said it all: “Today, the West claims to defend human rights while arming Israel to the teeth as it commits genocide in Gaza. It sanctions Iranian leaders while cozying up to autocratic regimes in Riyadh. It threatens International Criminal Court judges with sanctions for daring to hold Benjamin Netanyahu accountable, while ignoring the UN Charter’s requirement that all states settle disputes peacefully. It lectures the world on the rules-based order, even as it burns that order to the ground. And where is Africa in all of this? Silent. Subdued. Complicit.”
