BsAC's Finance Director, Lamin Suso is alleged to have taken revenue from various revenue collectors, which is unaccounted for.
On his encounter with Finance Director Lamin Suso, Muhammed Suso, recalled that a particular day in question, just when from collection and heading to the council, he received a phone call from Mr Suso asking him to come to the office as they have something to sort out.
“He requested the money I collected. I just took the money from my bag and handed it to him because he was my boss,” the witness said.
The witness further told the commission that the amount was D12,000, and that once the Establishment Committee of the Council summoned him to a meeting inquiring about the money, he said he gave the money to Director of Finance Suso.
The witness testified that he was asked to recover the money from Suso and this was when he went to Director Suso’s office demanding the refund of the money.
“I pinned him and told him it is either you give me the money or else you won’t move an inch out of your office.” the witness said.
The witness also testified that Director of Finance Suso first paid a sum of D6,000, promising that he will repay the remaining D6,000 later.
The witness revealed that during his tenure as the revenue collector for Tumana, he had always ensured that he deposited the revenue into the council’s account with the bank on the same day. “I don’t go home with money. I always deposit it on the same day. Whatever I collected, I deposited it.” he said.
He, however, admitted making a mistake as it was wrong to give the money to Director of Finance Suso.
He testified that for three months the staff of the council, have not received their monthly salaries.
