The anniversary celebration was characterized by display of different activities such as debates, poetry, singing, dancing, among others.
Emmanuel Omorodion, proprietor of Wisdom Nursery School, who doubles as the Vice President of the National Association of Early Childhood Educator in The Gambia, thanked the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) for creating a conducive environment to operate as well as their their support to schools.
He also thanked educational staff of region 1 and every cluster monitor that has helped them in the past.
Mr Omorodion, who dressed in uniform like a pupil, added that his concern is to make sure the children have basic foundation of education to ensure the sky is their limit.
“I have produced so many great students, some of whom are now managing directors in various offices,” he said, adding that some students that graduated from his school even scored agregate 6 during the recent grade 9 examination.
He said his objective is to incorporate all his schools on the same ground but to the small nature of the school this was not possible.
He thus called for support from the government to be allocated a plot of land to be able to incorporate all his schools in one place. “Every year we lose a lot of students to other schools that are not better than us but because we lack the space to accomodate them,” he also said.
The journey to the day, he added, has not been easy as most parents do not pay school fees regularly, but thanked God that they have come this far.
“My mandate is to make sure that children within my community are all educated for free,” he further said, adding that they are the cheapest school in region 1. I am personally sponsoring 16 students from poor backgrounds.” he also said.
He stated they are the only nursery school in the Kanifing Municipal Council with a feeding programme and thanked Bev Hodt, Founder of Project Gambia for her support to his school.
