In what is seen as another positive move in promoting Gambian talents to the fore, Overview Media Group, a Gambian label based in the United Kingdom recently signed Gambian artiste, Muhammed Sillah aka Sparklyn Black on a five-year deal.

Overview Media Group is a multimedia company based in Manchester, in England, working with different artistes in Africa, especially in West Africa notably in Gambia, Nigeria, and also other close border countries.

The label also specialises in artiste development, global distribution, and cross market partnerships between African and international artistes. The company’s mission is to spotlight authentic African voices while building sustainable global careers.

At a recent presser held at Kololi, Muhammed Ceesay, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Overview Media Group, expressed delight in signing the young Gambian star, noting that their aim is to help promote the country’s art and music industry.

“So, we do a lot of things, and we hope this is just the start of our journey. I've known Sparklyn not very long, but we've been working together for almost a year, and it's not even, this is not even about a business, it's a family thing, because he became a family to me, and my family, and my whole team. So, it's indeed a pleasure, and we have a lot of things that we want to do with him, and to see that his career takes over beyond Gambia and above, and inshallah.”

For Muhamed Sillah this is a dream come true, expressing delight to be associated with the event.  “I'm so proud and grateful about this event happening today. You know, because there are lots of artistes in the country that could be chosen, so choosing me means a lot to me, and also looking forward to delivering my best. It's more like we have the same spirit and it's more like we are on the same journey and the same mission.”

Moreover, the symbolic signing ceremony held in the heart of Kololi was purposely to serve as an inspiration and send strong messages to those youth trapped in the web of drug addiction, wandering in the streets.
