May 8, 2020, 12:21 PM | Article By: Ismaila Sonko

United Democratic Party (UDP) youth president and National Assembly Member for Central Badibou said Vice President Dr. Isatou Touray’s statement on young people during Gambia government’s distribution of rice, sugar and oil was misleading, saying he was totally disappointed with her ‘false’ allegation.

Sulayman Saho urges VP Touray to be mindful of her utterances and to exercise respect for others, saying she abused and misused the occasion instead of calling for multi facet approach to contain covid-19.

The vice president was quoted during the food distribution calling on young people to participate in the offloading of the food items as source of income earning for them. This angered not only Saho but a good number of young people and concerned Gambians. Although she insisted that her comments were taken out f context or misunderstood.

Mr. Saho said if the government fails to address the challenges that young people are facing then it has fail in its responsibility.

He advised President Adama Barrow to make a decision about his VP’s statements, saying she has sabotaged the efforts of the government and pushing her own political career to become the next president.

The Central Badibou lawmaker said it is high time for the VP to know and comprehend that the change she is enjoying was done by the youth and not her alone.
