The development came through as Professor Pierre Gomez, the Minister of Higher Education, Research Science and Technology (MoHERST) and his team embarked on a tour to identify the site.
The development came after the official inauguration of the committee tasked with the development of a full proposal on a Fisheries TVET center.
In his remarks, Professor Pierre Gomez said that: “we are pleased to inform you that a site has been identified and thus, we look forward to working with our partners for the construction phase to begin.”
He added that: “once operational, the TVET center on Fisheries will offer programs in fisheries management, fishing and fishing gear technology, post-harvest technology and aquaculture.”
Professor Gomez added that this would provide opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship in the fisheries sector likewise develop relevant capacity for the management and development of the fisheries sector in The Gambia.
