Turkish Ambassador visits Gunjur, embraces discussions with leaders

The Turkish Ambassador to The Gambia, Fahir Turker Oba, recently visited Gunjur and held discussions with the Coastal town leaders after performing Friday prayers at the town’s central mosque.

In his welcoming remarks, the President of Supreme Islamic Council (SIC), Alhagie Essa Foday Darboe, thanked Ambassador Oba for visiting Gunjur, saying: “Your visit will go a long way in further strengthening the relationship that exists between the community of Gunjur and the Embassy,” he said.

The president of the SIC also thanked Ambassador Oba for not only visiting them but for also joining them in performing the Friday prayers at their central Mosque for the first time.

He thanked the president of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for his continued support in the promotion of Islam in the world.

Fahir Turker Oba, the Turkish Ambassador to The Gambia conveyed his sincere appreciation for the warm reception he received from the people of Gunjur.

“I want to express my profound gratitude for the hospitality shown to me by inhabitants of Gunjur during my visit.”

The visit, he added, will further cement the already existing cordial relationship between the community of Gunjur and the Turkish’s Embassy in Banjul.
