The trio attended the five days summit together with other young and vibrant youth from a cross-section of other backgrounds. The event which was attended by countries from Africa, Asia, and Europe saw The Gambia once again participate in a Global Youth Parliament Summit and bagged prestigious awards.
Fatou Busso said: "I am extremely delighted to be part of such a wonderful summit that seeks to shape the minds of young people. I was opportune to network with great minds on so many key areas including youth participation in politics, leadership, entrepreneurship, agriculture, extremism, conflict management and resolution process."
Tamsir Sallah, an agriculturist and a climate change advocate said: "I cannot measure the length of my happiness to participate in such a life-changing youth summit. I was opportune to cross paths with great people from across the world that has shared their experience and expertise with us, especially in the area of agriculture which I am so passionate about."
Amie Lowe, Focal Person for IMVF, a non-profit organisation that implements the EU Tekki-Fii Project in The Gambia also participated in the summit and expressed her delight at the chance of attending such a high-profile youth leadership summit outside the country.
"Such opportunities are rare and being lucky to attend such is great. I brought along a take home from the Global Leadership Summit which will go a long way to impacting the lives of other young people who do not have the chance to attend," Lowe highlighted.
Despite their huge achievements on a global stage, the trio called on Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports to prepare a special budget for young people who will be traveling outside to represent the country at such Summits.
“This will better prepare us to assume leadership positions across all sectors in the country,” they added.
The Global Youth Parliament is a leading youth organisation in the world. It aims to motivate young minds in societal work, entrepreneurship, democracy and sustainable development for a better world.
This year's summit took place in Bangkok, Thailand from 22nd to 26th June 2022.
