The training, aimed at improving leadership and management for sustainability was held at TANGO Conference Hall.
Ndey Sireng Bakurin, executive director of TANGO said that Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) play an essential role in the society.
She noted that one of their strategic pillars is capacity development, institutional building and resource development.
She added that many challenges experienced by NGOs and CSOs stem from inadequate understanding of collaborative and effective management mechanisms in various areas. These she said can be minimised with appropriate training.
Mrs Bakurin said “we need to enhance the overall management and operational effectiveness of Non-Governmental Organisations and Civil Society Organizations.
We are involved in shared leadership that cuts across the institutional and community fabric spectrum,” she also said.
She went on to say that NGOs and CSOs must be seen as competent and worthy partners in the sharing of leadership and responsibilities.
She said that NGOs and CSOs must demonstrate that their internal houses are in order to be strong and effective partners.
Lamin Nyangado, freelance consultant who served as resource person for the training urged participants to embrace TANGO as their organisation and ensure that they do what they can to strengthen the organisation.
He said that would enable participants to give their best in terms of their obligations to ensure that TANGO moves further.
Mr. Nyangado, thus took the participants through presentations on management and leadership in organisations.
