QCell has worked on expanding its network capacity across the length and breadth of the country. It has nationwide coverage with fastest and cheapest internet service.
Since its inception in 2011, the company has worked tirelessly in improving its services, thereby innovating cutting-edge technological solutions that have enabled it to attract more subscribers.
However, the telecoms company has now signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bright Stars Entertainment. The entertainment company will promote QCell business services, while QCell will empower it.
In his remarks, Muhammed Jah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Q-Group, said QCell has engaged Bright Stars Entertainment on a business deal because the telecoms company has been observing and has noted the good job of the entertainment organization over the past years.
He describes Bright Stars Entertainment as competent entertainment team that is seen at almost every important gathering in The Gambia to perform and contribute to nation building. Therefore, he added, QCell deems it necessary to support and empower the young entertainment group.
“I am very happy that we are able to sign the MoU,” he said. “We do not easily sign partnerships because we try to make sure that we sign with people who will sustain the standards we are looking for.”
He further told Bright Stars Entertainment: “We have been monitoring you over the years and have seen that you have standards and you need support. You also believe in the ‘Sunu Buss’ concept. Therefore, we have no choice but to sign a partnership with you.”
Mr Jah said Q-Group is committed to supporting Bright Stars Entertainment to attain their goals in the entertainment industry, giving a word of advice to the entertainment personnel to continue working hard, maintaining discipline and remaining focused. These, he said, would help them to succeed.
Amie Sise, head of marketing for QCell, describes Bright Stars Entertainment as a dynamic, versatile and talented group of young men that are doing “marvelous work” across the length and breadth of the country.
“We have seen what you are doing not only in terms of songs, but in terms of jingles, comedy and drama,” she said, adding: “We also know the things you have been doing in terms of activism.”
The marketing personnel expressed delight in QCell 's partnership with the entertainment team, saying QCell has been supporting Gambians in education, health and sport and over the recent years it has ventured into the entertainment industry. “The company has supported several people in the entertainment sector,” she added.
“We are hoping that our partnership will not only stop on this deal. We know that you will represent both QCell and Q-Money, which is a baby of QCell,” she said, adding: “Everyone knows that Q-Money is making financial transactions easy for all, now people do not have to go with physical cash around.”
Q-Money is partnering with several banks in The Gambia, she added, saying: “You can send money throughout The Gambia using Q-Money; you can as well buy Q-Power and credit in your own destination.
“We know that you travel across the country; therefore, you can be brand ambassador of QCell across the country. I hope the partnership will not stop on this deal.”
The marketing specialist said further that various forms of MoU have been signed between several partners in The Gambia but a deal the fashion of QCell and Bright Stars Entertainment never happened before.
Alieu Badara Njie, head of Q-Money, expressed delight at having such an important partnership with the entertainment group. He describes Bright Stars Entertainment as “the best entertainment organization” in terms of message sharing and business promotion.
Assan Jobe, Secretary General for Bright Stars Entertainment, said: “We are honoured. We know that this is first of its kind in the country.”
He assured that Bright Stars Entertainment would work as expected to fulfil the terms and conditions indicated in the business deal. He said when it comes to message sharing, comedy and drama, Bright Stars Entertainment “does not fear any person or entertainment organization” in the country.
“QCell innovates, others follow; and in the entertainment industry as well Bright Stars also innovates others follow,” he told QCell officials. “We know our capacity in terms of drama, comedy, entertainment and message sharing. We do not fear anyone in that aspect.”
Pa Modou Yaffa, President for Bright Stars Entertainment, said the entertainment team had never signed such a business deal with any other company in The Gambia.
He further thanked the CEO and management of QCell for offering Bright Stars the opportunity. He also assured that the entertainment stars would do their best to ensure both parties attain their developmental aspirations.
“We will make sure that QCell attains its developmental aspirations in the telecoms industry,” he affirmed.
Buba A. Jallow, member of Bright Stars Entertainment, said: “We are happy for QCell, Q-Money and the whole Q-Group. We are happy to work for QCell, our own telecoms company. This company belongs to the Gambians.”
He further called on all and sundry to subscribe to QCell, saying it is a Gambian company.
Yankuba Comma, also a member of the entertainment team, thanked the CEO, management and staff of QCell for their support. “We have never signed this kind of contract. You are the first company to offer us such,” he said. “You have hope for us. We will also work as expected to contribute to the development of your company.”
