However, the official launch of the trade fair targeting 400 businesses will be held on 30th May 2024.
The main objective of the trade fair is to create space for start-ups and women entrepreneurs in The Gambia (especially those in “Made In The Gambia”) to exhibit their products and services, network with other international vendors to unlock the income potentials and boost the economic growth of their businesses in The Gambia; to increase networking, income and business exposure of entrepreneurs as well as build their capacity on product development, branding and marketing.
The specific objectives of the trade fair is the promotion of “Made in Gambia” products at a broad-based level, create market linkage for start-ups in The Gambia, create awareness of Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), boost confidence of start-ups in the commercial sector of The Gambia, establish inter-country networking events (B2B) for Gambian businesses to facilitate partnership, enable at least 10,000 visitors to the trade fair, enhance and unlock the potential entrepreneurs at grassroots level in business entrepreneurship, recruit and increase organisers membership, and increase the visibility of their partners in all events.
The first-ever Banjul International Trade Fair in The Gambia is inspired by the GWCC and GSCC’s shared commitment and vision to provide market space, promote and give support to start-ups business in The Gambia, connect Gambian businesses with the international trade enterprises along the international trade corridors.
According to organisers, they believe the trade fair will provide MSMEs the market space, market linkages and sustain their businesses and provide employment opportunities.
GWCC and GSCC will promote tourism and culture through musical jamboree for
young artistes, Trade Fashion Night as well as organise Pitching Competition, Pre
Trade Fair Training on packaging and branding, Youth Day and Women’s Day
celebrations.
Organisers added that the international trade fair will be a timely opportunity for women to network, discover sources of funding, share experiences and build new partnerships to enhance their entrepreneurial capacities.
Trade Fairs are an enormously important part of the marketing activities of most
types of business, ranging from the largest multinationals to small family
businesses.
