The event was held at The Gambia College, Brikama.
At the event, Alhaji Abubacarr Jatta, a resident of Pakau Kerewan in the Southern Province of Casamance, Senegal, acknowledged that his foundation convened Islamic conference annually to foster unity and oneness among the Muslim ummah.
He, however, noted that it has been a while since they last conducted one, saying the Islamic confab also seeks to enlighten people about the life and time of late Gambian Islamic scholar, Alhagi Jason Touray and what he did for humanity.
He acknowledged that the life and legacy of this vulnerable scholar will forever be remembered by the people particularly those who learned from him.
Sheikh Sadibou Touray, a prominent marabout, said his late father, Sheikh Jason Touray was indisputably a dynamic person, who had impacted the lives of the people for the sake of humanity.
He called on the people to be God-fearing in whatever they do and follow their teachings in strengthening peace and love among the Muslim ummah.
