Saama Kairo Federation gives sanitarry materials to families in Kombo East, Central

Saama Kairo Federation; a local partner to ChildFund The Gambia on Friday donated sanitary items worth over D700, 000 to its sponsored and enrolled families in Kombo East and Central, the police and the Regional Health Directorate.

The items include 150 buckets, 85 gallons of bleach, 200 bottles of sanitizer, 50 bottles of dettol liquid, 50 bottles of liquid soap, 27900 bars of laundry soap and 200 posters.

Speaking at brief handing over held at the Federation’s Regional Office in Brikama, Manager Sunkary Jatta said as a child protection and development agency, they deemed it necessary to join hands with stakeholders in combating the covid-19 which he described as worrying.

He urged beneficiaries to make good use of the materials to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus, while stressing the need for people to always wash their hands and adhere to the advice of the health experts including social distancing.

Deputising for the regional police commissioner, Chief Inspector Lamin Darboe commended Saama Kairo Federation for their timely response in complementing government efforts in their efforts to curb the spread.

He advised Gambians to heed to the advice of the Ministry of Health and WHO to ensure that the virus is contained.

Regional disaster coordinator and head of regional taskforce logistic committee, Binta Sey-Jadama thanked the federation for their foresight, saying that the materials will help the taskeforce in their quest to containing the virus.
