
At a mega food distribution exercise held recently, the organisation extended largesse to about 400 needy families in communities of Mandinary, Latriya, Kombo Kerewan, Bijilo, and Brusubi. The donated items, including rice, sugar and cooking oil.
Presenting, Mr. Abdulla Jassim Al- Kaabi, Second Secretary of the Embassy said this gesture marked the third consecutive year that the Qatari government entity has carried out such distributions.
"Our efforts highlight the strong partnership between Qatar and The Gambia, as well as our shared commitment to humanitarian aid," he stated.
He added: "Ramadan is a time of generosity and reflection, and this initiative ensures that struggling families can observe the fasting period with dignity and access to nutritious meals."
Beyond providing immediate food relief, he said, initiatives like this help to foster social cohesion and strengthen community bonds.
"The Qatar Fund for Development’s continued commitment to assisting Gambian communities reflects its broader mission of empowering people and reducing poverty worldwide."
In conclusion, he said, such humanitarian efforts remain crucial in supporting the well-being of vulnerable populations.
