Mr Barry also gets frequent lower abdominal pain which is associated with the dyspnoea and usually precedes it by few minutes. He does not have asthma, hypertension or diabetes.
Mr Barry has been extensively evaluated based on the availabale resources in The Gambia, his imaging results including a chest X- ray, ECG and 2D transthoracic echocardiogram are all normal. Blood work including full blood count, kidney function test, sugar, lipids, D-Dimer, NT- proBNP are normal too, according to a medical report issued by Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital.
Mr. Barry may benefit from further tests such as Holter monitoring, high resolution chest CT-scan, CT- pulmonary angiogram to determine the cause of his recurrent unexplained dyspnoea with the associated symptoms, which are not available in The Gambia, added the report.
"I have difficulties in breathing for over one year now and went to several hospitals but was wrongly diagnosed of asthma .One Friday I was with my wife on our way to Brikama and I fainted on the way. I was rushed to the nearest health center (Brikama). I was admitted at the Brikama Hospital and diagnosed of heart failure. But I could not resist it. I have visited several hospitals which said its a heart failure," he explained.
"I also visited Ndemban Clinic and was diagnosed of heart failure and recommended to do all my test in Banjul at Edward Francaise Small Teaching Hospital. I went to Banjul and two cardiologists scrutunized me and one of them diagnosed that, am developing a heart failure."
"Dr Lamin E.S. Jaiteh, a consultant Cardiologist also checked me and told me that I have been wrongly diagnosed of a heart failure. He recommend that I need to do more tests to confirmed the results. Dr Jaiteh also contacted SimPro Health in Turkey to offer Mr Barry free treatment but it was unsuccessful as they responded that they help kids ranging from the age of 0 to 13 years".
