In promoting the spirit of compassion, while sharing with those in need, Magassy Foundation for Adults and Literacy on Friday organised its sixth annual Iftar and tafsir at Brikama Kabafita.

The event attracted imams, community leaders, women and children and a cross section of the community of Kabifita.

At the event, Hon. Muhammed Magassy, founder of the Foundation, underscored the importance of the gathering, reminding that whatever belongs to him belongs to the community.

He noted that it has been almost two years down the line that he could not attend the event, but he said that did not stop the event taking place.

Bakary Manneh, secretary general of the foundation, explained the aims of foundation, which he said, is to bring about unity and peace in the neighborhood.

‘‘So, organizing such a program this month of Ramadan is very much key, because it will bring people from different backgrounds to share their religious beliefs and ideas and as well, to network for a better future." he said

Manneh also revealed that the community is a new settlement and the initiative was highly welcomed by members of the community.

‘‘As believers, we all believe that in the month of Ramadan, it is a month of blessings. So, when you have the people in the same community coming together, to remind themselves about their religious beliefs and as well as pray for the community is a very good initiative," Manneh said.

Imam Alhaiba Hydara, who was in attendance, thanked Magassy Foundation for the foresight in organising such an important activity.

He made reference to the Prophet Muhammed S.A.W in one of his quotes in the Quran, where he states; ‘whosoever give a person to break his/her fast will have two rewards.’’
