Lamin Danso wins ‘Best Teacher Awards’ 2026

Lamin Danso has won the Best Regional Teacher Award for the Upper River Region at the recent annual Gambia Teacher Prize 2026.

Danso also received a scholarship from the MRC Holland Foundation, a brand-new laptop and a cheque for D50,000. The package aims to support his professional development and enhance his contribution to the education sector.

His achievement continues to highlight his dedication to teaching and his increasing influence in shaping education within the Upper River Region.

Receiving the awards, Lamin Danso, who is a senior master at the Koba Kunda Upper Basic & Senior Secondary School in Basse, expressed gratitude and humility in winning award, which he dedicates to his school and community.

He described the recognition as both an honour and motivation to continue impacting students positively. He said the scholarship, laptop, and cash prize would help greatly in his professional growth.

Elsewhere, Bubacarr Nyakateh, a teacher at Fatoto Lower Basic School, emerged as the Regional Runner-Up in the 2026 Best Teacher Awards.

In recognition of his dedication and outstanding contribution to education, he was also awarded a brand-new laptop from MRC Holland and also secured a scholarship to further his academic and professional development.

The achievement, he added, highlights his commitment to excellence in teaching and serves as an inspiration to fellow educators across the country.
