“We will continue to train teachers to improve students’ reading skills,” Dekkers affirmed, urging participants to make the best use of the knowledge gained. She further encouraged them to share what they had learned with their students.
Dekkers explained that the Key of Education, established in 2021, was founded to build the capacity of teachers, particularly Gambian educators. She expressed gratitude to her colleagues for their support during the training.
Jerreh Ndong, Coordinator of Batokunku Lower and Nursery School, highlighted the importance of the initiative. He said the training would provide schools with materials to improve reading at Lower Basic and Nursery levels. “This programme will help teachers guide their students in learning how to read,” Ndong added, thanking the organisation for its efforts.
Fatou Joof, a teacher from Tanji Life Lower Basic School, echoed the call for teachers to apply the skills acquired. “We must make the best use of the knowledge gained,” she urged.
The Key of Education has pledged to continue supporting Gambian teachers through training programmes designed to improve literacy and strengthen classroom teaching.
