A three-day spiritual gathering organised Jehovah’s Witness Convention last Saturday ended on a high note at the Kotu Assembly Hall.

The event, which is the first since the relaxation of Covid-19 protocols, also witnessed 17 people, who were baptised at the event.

However, this year's event was held the theme: “Exercise Patience” attracted hundreds of delegates from around the globe.

Mariama Correa, one of the baptized, said this year’s programme is spiritually rich, and that it has exposed her to way she can exercise patience.

“I can exercise patience with the people I meet in my daily life.”

Joanna Njie, said the event was well organized and a large number of people attended.

She said patience is one of the most important qualities that people need to cultivate so that together people will be at peace with ‘ourselves and everybody’.

“17 people got baptized, and most of them are young ones. So these young ones over the years have been studying the Bible and they also are trying to apply the principles that can help them as young ones to avoid temptation, such as sexual immorality. They made up their own decision, nobody made it for them.”

“We hope that we will have many more Assembly and Kingdom Halls like this one, not only in the Greater Banjul Area, but across the whole country.” she added.

Walter Sukkau, spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses, said we gathered here to learn more on how to exercise patience and how important it is to use patience in our dealings with our families, friends, and even with work mates. We are talking about that, using the Bible, because we know the most patient one is God. So he can teach us how we can show more patience.
