At the event, Muhammed Magassy, leader of the Foundation, who also serves as the Gambia’s Consulate to France, spoke highly of the interventions of Hon Aicha Abubacarr Lalia Camara, who he said, is a Malian married to a Gambian based in United States of America (USA).
Magassy said Mrs Camara has been supportive to his programmes from politics, education, health and culture.
"Since I was a member of parliament she has been assisting the foundation up to date, "Magassy stated.
Magassy enumerated the numerous assistance she rendered to her, adding that they also thought it prudent to recognise her invaluable contribution with ‘a unique woman award’.
"A great woman doesn't seek validation as her patronage validates her excellence."
The award, he added, means a lot to her making reference to a popular adage that ‘whenever you do good, good will follow you.’
He disclosed that Manma was giving this invaluable support without expecting anything in return, saying the best way to recognise someone is to celebrate her legacy that's why they did it this way.
He once again commended Manma Aicha for her unwavering support to their organiszation. “It's important to her (Manma) but equally important to his foundation," Magassy stated.
He cited that once someone became a politician he or she is never far from his people despite the distance, adding that he is now closer to his people than ever before.
Receiving the certificate on her behalf, Aja Lalia Camara, mother-in-law to the recipient, commended Muhammed Magassy for his foresight in bringing the much-needed development to the community, while praying for Allah to reward him abundantly.
She described Manma Aicha as a good person with great heart, who continues to support a worthy cause.
For her part, Baba Amie Sillah, vice president of foundation, said Manma Aicha Abubacarr Lalia Camara has been supporting almost all their activities including helping school going Children.
