Presenting the items, Yankuba Jabbi, a member and adviser to the organisation, explained the Charity exists purely out love for country with a desire to help contribute to the development of the country’s healthcare system.
He spoke highly of what the country has to offer, saying despite its size, it is fast becoming a one stop paradise for holiday-makers. "Our healthcare system, however, leaves much to be desired," he added.
With a population of 2.4 million, for many years The Gambia continues to struggle to compete with its neighbouring countries in terms of ensuring quality healthcare services that all can be proud of.
Jabbi acknowledged that the charity believes that health and well-being is crucial for all, noting that it is on those basics that the health of every individual in the country matters.
This support by the Charity, he added, is to contribute to quality health by working hand in hand with partners to assist in the primary and secondary healthcare service providers in the country.
“This will further ensure together we effect change for a better healthcare. Upon request and consultation with the management of Tanka Tanka, Gambia Healthcare Matters was able to partner with colleagues and supported by NHS England and the Florence Nightingale Foundation to procure these lockers.”
He spoke of his charity’s resolve to continue working with partners to fulfil their duty in contributing to quality health services in the country.
Receiving the items, Omar Bojang, Chief Matron at Tanka Tanka hospital, thanked the Charity for the benevolent gesture, which he described as ‘timely and worthy’.
He promised that the donated items would be put into good use.
