The gesture was made possible through Captain Musa N. Corr, a native of Mbollet Ba village in the same district.
The borehole that has 15 taps at strategic locations within the community including one at the cemetery, supplies the community with 24hours access to clean drinking water.
Captain Musa N. Corr said he identified Jamagen as the beneficiary of the project because the community really needed access to clean drinking water.
Captain Corr described Jamagen as one of the less-privileged communities in Lower Nuimi, noting that this also contributed in him identifying the community located about 7 kilo meters away from the main highway as the beneficiary.
Baboucarr Joof, village development committee chairman explained that they used to only have access to water between 1pm and 5pm daily before the intervention of their said donors.
He therefore thanked them for the borehole he said its benefits are immeasurable for the community.
Ida Corr, a woman leader at the community hailed donors for their generosity, saying that lack of access to potable water is a thing of the past in the community now.
Ebou Bobb, a youth at the community said women encountered a lot of challenges before the German couple’s intervention.
He explained that when women wanted to launder or cook they had to wait until after 1pm when the then taps start running, adding that most of the time the water would finish before they were done with their laundry.
“Thank you Captain Corr and your German donors for ensuring that we are now able to access clean drinking water round the clock. We never had access to water at night but now we do,” he stated while expressing gratitude and appreciation to them.
Mr Bobb described access to clean drinking water as a basic human right. He added that no human being can survive without water. “Personal hygiene cannot be possible in the absence of water,” he also said.
