GBA President hails establishment of Anti-corruption Commission

The president of The Gambia Bar has hailed the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Commission and other positive developments registered in the justice sector.

Neneh M.C. Cham, was speaking during the opening of the Legal Year 2025 held on Sunday at the Law Complex in Banjul.

She said: “We wish to recognize efforts to ensure accountability by also establishing the Anti-corruption Commission, which is soon to be constituted. We look forward to the recruitment of competent, credible and objective individuals to carry out this all-important task.”

Counsel Cham also hailed the idea of the Access to Information commission, urging government to follow through and provide required resources to enable both commissions succeed in executing their mandates.

She also commended the Judiciary under the leadership of the Chief Justice in introducing new technology installed in the high court, and the automated recording system to assist in recording proceedings in the courtroom.

 “It makes speedy disposal of cases and more efficient justice delivery system all around. We look forward to it being replicated throughout the high court.”
