Gambian US-based philanthropist gives books to Methodist Schools

A Gambian philanthropist based in the United States of America, Mrs Mary Ola Aubee-Glasglow recently extended magnanimity to Gambian schools with the presentation of books and educational materials to Methodist Schools.

The presentation, held on Wednesday at the Methodist Education Secretariat, saw seven schools benefitting from this philanthropic gesture including- The Gambia Methodist Academy and Brikama Methodist Academy.

In presenting the donated items on behalf of the donor, Dr. Ernest Aubee, a brother to the donor, revealed that her sister has been engaged in this philanthropic venture for over 30 years supporting Gambian institutions in critical areas.

Dr. Aubee highlighted the need to bring back the reading culture into the country’s school system.

In receiving the donation on behalf of the Methodist mission, Mrs Adele Sock, chairperson of the Methodist Education Board, while thanking the donor for the gesture, assured that the donated items would be put to good use.

Mrs Hannah Harding, principal of Gambia Methodist Academy, also expressed similar sentiments.

The event was graced by the Chair, Education Committee, Mrs Adele Sock, Mr David Nyockeh Education Secretary and Heads of beneficiary schools.
