Jul 4, 2023, 11:43 AM

The Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery recently trained 15 staff of the ministry on administrative survey and data management at the Management Development Institute (MDI).

The training was organised by the Civil Service Reform and Planning Unit (CSRPU) under the above-mentioned Ministry in partnership with the Management Development Institute.

At the event, Alieu Loum, permanent secretary (PS), Strategic, Policy and Delivery at The Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery, called on participants to always have a good grasp on designing and conducting surveys by generating and analyzing data and making results available to concerned users.

“Identify relevant area and conduct a survey on it that will demonstrate your understanding of the subject matter and help provide valuable policy insights.” PS Loum urged.

The training, PS Loum went on, to a greater extent would enable the participants to interact meaningfully with similar public and civil society organisations, private enterprises, experts and other professional oversight bodies to foster spirits of research in good governance and accountability.

For her part, Madam Fatou A. Barry, deputy Director General of MDI, reminded that training of that nature is all about networking and team building.

“Both of you (the participants and the facilitators) learnt new things from each other and for us here at MDI, we want to take new dimension of making follow-up to our trainees in their workplace to gauge the impact of what they were trained at MDI, instead of only conducting trainings and stop there. ”

She commended MoPs for organizing such an important training for its staff, while equally calling on the ministry to provide periodic capacity building training for its staff.

“No institution whether public or private can deliver well without capacitating its staff, so capacity building training is paramount for any new institution like MoPS. ”

At the event of the training, participants were awarded with certificate.
