Gaye Njorro holds 15th graduation

Gaye Njorro Academic, a skills training institute recently held its 15

 

the graduation ceremony at a colourful ceremony held at Pencha Mi Hall in Senegambia.

The event, which attracted students, former students, teachers, and representatives from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Trade and a cross-section of the community.

The theme is of this year’s graduation was Youth Employability Through Skills Development for Sustainable Economic Growth.

 However, this year’s graduation, witnessed presentation of certificates to 206 students.

At the event, Dr Cherno Barry, board chairman of the institute, disclosed that Gaye Nyorro is the first institution to introduce skilll training in the rural Gambia. 

The idea, he added, motivated by their resolve to contribute towards nation building and to build the technical capacities, thus addressing skills gap in the country.

Barry, however, reminded that society has an important role to play in that especially in changing the mindset of young people towards skills development.

He informed that it does not signify failure rather empowerment to self independence and development.

He thus urged policy makers to invest in skills training so as to ease the youth unemployment rate in the country. 

Barry equally called on the government to invest more in the development of skill centers as they are investing in TVET.

To the graduating class, Dr. Barry advised them to be faithful and support their families and not to relent in contributing their quarters to national development. 

Fatou Seine Gaye, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gaye Nyorro Academic, revealed that the school has graduated a total of over 6000 students since inception 

“You are train to be self employed, independent and be able to creat job opportunities for others.” 

Mass Faye, a representative from https://naqaa.gm/National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority (NAQAA), underscored the importance of skills training, reminding that for a country to develop it must give prominence to education and skills development.
