Registered in The Gambia since 2014, the association has now become a household name in the country due to the tremendous achievement it has registered among which is uniting the country’s Fulani and promoting their language and cultural heritage among others.
The Association aims at preserving and promoting the rich Pulaar Culture and Tradition, Language and promoting unity among the different Fulbe dialects.
The association was founded through Facebook in 2012 with the aim of changing the mindset of the people about the beautiful Fulani culture and the preservation of the Pulaar language.
Speaking at the convergence, the newly elected president, Musa Baldeh, underscored the significance of the association in the country, saying: “It is a great sense of honor to be elected President of Fulbe Africa Association but equally a heavy load on me considering Fulbe Africa being a great and a respected Organisation and the achievements it registered over the past years.”
“It will require hard work, dedication and resilience to continue such task, but with the team I have, I am optimistic of a successful term in office with a lot of achievements,” he promised
The Sare Nyanga born, added: “Fulbe Africa is not only a household name in the country, but even within the sub-region. Therefore, it’s not easy to run such a reputable association. With the calibre of executives and membership the organisation has, I am sure we will run it effectively and efficiently while uniting the Fulbe people under one umbrella,” he postulated.
Commenting on his plans for the association, Baldeh said: “My plans for the coming years is to continue working with our partners and stakeholders in the promotion of culture and tradition with the desire of solidifying our achievements in the past.”
The Fulbe Africa President said: “Fulbe Africa is founded on the ideals of unity and togetherness with the objectives of promoting our culture, language and heritage. I want to assure you all that I and my team will commence work now with preparations for the hosting of the 11th Fulbe Africa International Cultural Festival to be held this year.”
“We will also work on our annual action plan which is a well-crafted document including activities geared towards fostering unity, preserving our culture and bringing peaceful co-existence between the Fulbe people and other ethnic groups in Africa.”
Lamenting on the difficulties Fulani people encounter in the country, the Fulbe Africa boss said: “Fulbe people are facing a lot of challenges including climate induced migrations which often cause conflict between herders and farmers. Therefore, I will engage sister organisations in finding a lasting solution to some of these problems.”
Further continuing, he said: “We will also sensitise our people on the importance of documentation and engage officials in The Gambia on the issue of discrimination against Fulbe people in their quest to get the required documents.”
Malick J. Bah, the association’s out-going secretary said the association in collaboration with relevant partners would implement the 2024 action plans with the desire to further strengthen its drive to effectively promote Fulbe culture, foster unity, and contribute to peace and understanding among Fulbe in the sub region.
Through these concerted efforts and plans, he went on, Fulbe Africa aims to strengthen Fulbe culture, promote cultural diversity, and contribute to the well-being and prosperity of Fulbe communities and the broader society in The Gambia and beyond.

Jallow as cultural coordinator, Maimuna Bah as assistant cultural coordinator, Oumou Neneh Jallow as social secretary, Jainaba Bah as Assistant Social Secretary, Mamudou Bah as Partnership Manager, Hamidou Baldeh as Assistant Partnership Manager, Juma Bah as Education Officer, Saikou Omar Khan as Assistant Education Officer, Haruna Camara as Treasurer, Mariama Kandeh as Assistant Treasurer, Amie Bah as Diaspora Representative and Saidal Ali Bah as Auditor General.
