Flag Up Gambia embarks on renewal of Zebra Crossing

Flag Up Gambia has successfully fulfilled yet another year road safety activity on Kairaba Avenue. The activity was geared towards protecting pedestrians especially school children from the dangerous road traffic of the country.

Flag Up Gambia is a youth led organisation that only work towards the betterment of the country and ensuring that The Gambia flag is recognised in the globe.                                    

The annual renewal of the Zebra Crossing is a commitment taken by Flag Up Initiative  as a civic engagement driven by patriotism to get a possible outcome of mitigating the numerous car accidents in the country. The initiative started last year.

Sulayman Njie, commonly known as Saul Slim Njie, an executive member of Flag UAp Gambia, expressed gratitude to their volunteers who showed up and did the work with passion and diligent.  “We equally recognise sponsors for providing us with the paints and other logistics involved,” he added.

Njie noted that the activity was intended to go beyond the Zebra Crossing renewal, adding that in the coming week they would go to St Therese's to sensitise students on the importance of the Zebra Crossing. He urged students to utilise the Zebra Cross to curb possible accident in future. 

“The safety of children lies in everyone of us. Let us protect them to be assured a better future,” he went on.
