The two-day synergy was held at the Banjul City Council (BCC) new conference hall building in Banjul.
The Policy framework study report is to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the policymaking landscape, and processes in The Gambia and establish an evidence baseline to support the development of the National Policy Framework.
After going through final external validation, the policy will guide government-wide policy processes, including the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of policies, and mainstream the use of evidence and data. Thus, it will also ensure government actions are coherent, comprehensive, and coordinated.
The National Policy Framework is a strategic Priority 1 under Outcome 2.8 of the Governance Reforms Pillar in the RF-NDP (2023-2027), which calls for a framework to harmonise policy formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation” (RF-NDP, 2023).
At the validation, Mr. Njaga Gaye, Director, Policy Analysis Unit at the Department of Strategic Policy and Delivery (DSPD) under the Ministry of Public Service, while expressing appreciation for turn-out, noted that policies need to be standardised and aligned with the country’s policy framework once it is developed.
DSPD Policy Analysis Unit Director Gaye informed participants that Ministry of Public Service is planning to come-up with standardised policy framework for the entire civil service.
“We are here with our ministry’s key stakeholders because after this internal validation, we will expose the report for external validation whereby more stakeholders be invited to take part.”
