Momodou Lamin Jobarteh was speaking at a joint meeting convened for communities of Foni Jarrol, Bondali, Kansala, Bintang and Berefet constituencies held at Sibanor in the West Coast Region.
The meeting was part of the President Adama Barrow just concluded ‘Meet with the People’ tour held under the theme “together we can accelerate socio-economic growth and maintain peace and stability.”
“We want the Imams and the Supreme Islamic Council to come to our chiefs to dialogue with the elders of our communities to maintain peace among them.” he appealed.
Also, he encouraged that the councils of elders of Foni, his colleague chiefs, to take up the responsibility to promote dialogue amongst their communities to maintain peace in the area.
Chief Jobarteh reminded that Foni was not known for rejecting the legitimacy of a president, but he realized with surprise the fact that some of the people in the Foni Districts find it difficult to accept Barrow’s leadership.
However, he maintained that there has been vast development in the past six years of Barrow’s governance, citing road constructions and electricity expansion, which he added, had never happened since the first republic.
