The ceremony was held at National Nutrition Agency (NaNA) Conference Hall.
Presenting the certificates, Siaka M.B. Sonko, coordinator for Big Dreams, explained that the two charities joined hands to honour their members for their remarkable contribution to the welfare of less privileged in The Gambia.
“This is the wish of Big Dreams and I believe it is the same belief that Chosan members have to help the less privileged.”
Hafigj Sisawo, co-founder of Chosan, disclosed that 90 % of their members may not have been there when the initiative started, but the ones present at the event are the ones who are moving the foundation.
Sisawo reminded that Chosan was initiated about fourteen years ago and that since then, they have organised 29 medical camps across the country.
“Let the government support us so that Chosan will be there to run a mobile hospital for the government across all the needy places.”
Jim Jobe, secretay general of Chosan, explained that the charity is involved in so many areas from health, education, agriculture to disasters.
The charity, which derives its name from wolof parlance referring to ‘culture’, has since made remarkable foot prints on the lives of so many Gambians through its medical outreach to less privileged.
Dr Bakary Ceesay, co-founder of Chosan, expressed similar sentiments, stating that the charity is not only for The Gambia, but the whole of West Africa.
