The officials of this Belgian charity, who arrived in the country two weeks ago, have since disbursed an assortment of agricultural and medical items worth one million dalasis to various schools and agricultural and medical projects in the country.
At the handing-over ceremony, Patrick De Vos, chairman of Belgium Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG), expressed delight with the warm reception accorded to him and his team by the community of New Yundum and parts adjacent.
The donated items, he said, would significantly improve the health status of Gambians especially those around New Yundum community and its catchment communities.
De Vos lauded the friendly partnership that exists between his organisation and the staff of New Yundum Health Center and by extension their sponsored-students since the start of their operations in the country 24 years ago.
Receiving the items, Fatou Ceesay, Officer-In-Charge (OIC) at New Yundum Health Center, on behalf of her institution hailed the Belgian NGO for their commitment to the development of the country’s health sector.
“The donated materials will expand access to reliable health coverage within Kombo North District and will also improve health care delivery in The Gambia,” Madam Ceesay added.
The items donated includes; iron cupboards, nebulizers, fetal dopplers, desktops, Blood pressure machines, machines to measure the oxygen level, Ox meters, sugar level meters with strips, brand new printer, keyboard, electronic baby weighing scales, electric thermometers, drip stands, screen seperate patients.
In a similar development, the Belgian NGO donated educational items to New Yundum Lower Basic School, where they are also sponsoring two students.
