He stated that while significant improvements have been made in advancing human rights, the country is far from regaining her lost glory of becoming a beacon of home for human rights in Africa.

He highlightedissues affecting women and girls, increase in crime rate, Gender Based Violence among others and called on Government to evaluate the rate of insecurity and murder cases in the country.

He added that it is the responsibility of the Government to protect lives of all people living in the country, promote democracy, reduce the cost of living, and implement the TRRC report.

He also recommended to Government to invest in human rights education across all levels.

He noted that human rights education contributes to the promotion, protection and effective realization of all human rights.

Mr. Jawneh highlighted that Government through the National Assembly should pass the Prevention and Prohibition of Torture Bill.

He also called on Government to take appropriate measures to address public sector corruption in the country as well as address women political participation through affirmative action.
