Ivorian Consulate in the Gambia Donates Vital Supplies to Mile 2 Central Prison marking the 64th  Independence of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire

The Ivorian Consulate in The Gambia has made a generous donation to the Mile 2 Central Prison, providing essential supplies to support the welfare of inmates. The donation was officially handed over during a visit by officials from the consulate to the prison marking the 64th independence of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire .

The consulate donated food items and hygiene supplies as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties and support local communities. Speaking during the visit, representatives from the Ivorian Consulate emphasized the importance of humanitarian support in fostering goodwill between nations.

“We believe that supporting the well-being of inmates contributes to societal progress. This donation represents our commitment to stand by The Gambia government in its efforts to reform its prison system. This donation is a symbolic gesture aimed at affirming our commitment to human dignity and promoting the spirit of solidarity during this Important day of independence for the Republic of Ivory Coast” in remarks quoted from the honorary consul of cote Ivoire in the Gambia, Papa Yusupha Njie.

The representative of the Director General of the prison also promised that the donated items would be used for its intended purpose and prayed for more blessings for the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire through its consulate to continue helping the Gambian community and also assured that the inmates would be duly informed so that they continue to pray for the consulate as this a great step towards building a brighter future for our brothers and sisters in custody.

The donation from the Ivorian Consulate is expected to assist in the ongoing reforms aimed at improving living conditions at Mile 2 Prison. The consulate also pledged continued support for other community programs in The Gambia.

List of items donated included Bags of Rice, Tea bags, Plastic kettles, Tomato paste, Milk powder, Liquid soap, Plastic Hand fans, Water Jugs, Plastics cups, Mats, Bleach, Bags of Sugar, Cooking oil, Plastic plates, Bottles of pepper, butter and other condiments.
