Gambia Federation of Disable clarifies

The Gambia Federation of the Disable (GFD) has denied Lamin Manneh’s wrongful presentation as the secretary general of the Federation. The Federation denied the claimed during a press briefing held on Thursday at GOVI in Kanifing.

Lamin K. Fatty, Executive Director of GFD explained that Mr Manneh presented himself as the secretary general of the Federation in a story published by a local media that asked President Barrow to sack six ministers for his government to succeed.

“The Gambia Federation of the Disable and its affiliated members condemns Mr. Manneh’s claims as the Secretary General of the Federation. Lamin Manneh is not a Secretary General to Gambia Federation of the Disable. He resigned from the position since 2019,” he said.

Mr. Fatty further explained that The Gambia Federation of the Disable is the umbrella body of all registered Organizations of Persons with Disabilities in the country. He added that the Federation’s mission is to promote equal opportunities, rights and full participation of Persons With Disabilities in the development process.

“We are not a political entity and not affiliated with any political party. We encourage our members to participate in politics of their choice but are saddened by a member using a Federation portfolio in his political activism to gain political scores,” he added.

“We condemn his claims and statement in totality and ask him to immediately cease from parading himself as the Secretary General of the Federation,” said Mr. Fatty.

He also denied Mr. Manneh’s claims that he was behind the facilitationof Persons with Disabilities Act 2021.
