At the graduation, Prof. Makie Taal, vice chancellor of AIUWA, said the day marks another historic event in the profession of Medical Laboratory Science in the country.
“This is the first time Medical Laboratory Scientists are being produced in The Gambia. Let me take this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Health under the leadership of Dr. Ahmadou Samateh and its Directorate of National Public Health Laboratories, the Project Coordination Unit and the Directorate of Human Resources for Health at the Ministry for their efforts in securing the 100% sponsorship for these graduates.” he added.
Prof. Taal advised the new graduates to be true to themselves and to their ethics and values, and be always ready to make a difference.
He equally urged them to pursue their vision, challenge themselves and the world around them, as well as cultivate good networks and mentors who can help them through their decisions. “It is the combination of all these that will enable you give your best and to leave each place better than when you found it.”
