According to the medical report from the hospital management board of Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, the girl was presented to their facility three months ago with symptoms including easy fatiguability, dyspnea on exertion, frequent squatting, and bluish discoloration of the tongue, which started at the age of one.
The report added that although she was treated, her symptoms recurred, and she is currently on medication.
The medical report recommended that she goes for overseas correction of her cardiac defect in a cardiothoracic center, as such facilities are not currently available in The Gambia. This is a story of urgent need, and any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
The girl’s father, Yerro Gaye therefore called on the Government of The Gambia, Non-Governmental Organisations, the private sector, departments and stakeholders to help his daughter who he said has been going through pain for so long.
