“After having carefully considered, weighed and weighed all the factors while putting forward the interests of Senegal, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for the presidential election of February 25, 2024,” he declared in a broadcast interview on TFM of which he is Chairman and CEO.
However, Youssou Ndour does not rule out supporting a candidate in the running. “At the moment, we are not supporting anyone. We will listen to all the candidates. Moreover, some wanted to talk with us with a view to an alliance. we will study all the programs before making our decision which will be underpinned by the preservation of the exclusive interests of the Senegalese,” he underlines.
After the submission of sponsorships the coming week, the submission of files to the Constitutional Council will follow.
