In the cordial and friendly meeting, Joof told Abelenda his intention to visit Havana this year with the purpose of expanding bilateral collaboration in different spheres, including health, sports, tourism, agriculture and higher education.
The vice president added that a possible date for his trip to Cuba would be next November, coinciding with the celebration of the famous FIHAV-2022 International Fair, in the capital of the Caribbean island.
In this regard, he pointed out that this important event, recognised worldwide, would serve not only to intensify ties between the two nations, but also to explore possible forms of cooperation between The Gambia and the Caribbean and Latin American states, which will be represented at FIHAV -2022.
The dignitary also referred to the historical ties that unite his people and government with the largest of the Antilles, and described the current ties as very positive.
The Cuban ambassador thanked the vice president for the solidarity and support of this brother country in the fight that the island is waging against the prolonged and unjust US blockade.
