Supreme Court to deliver judgement in Yankuba Touray vs State, others

The office of the Hon. Chief Justice is pleased to inform the general public that the Supreme Court of The Gambia presided over by His Lordship the Hon Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow assisted by other Justices of the Court will be sitting in session in Banjul from the 7th to the 10th of April 2025.

The Supreme Court will be delivering Judgement during the session in the case of Yankuba Touray vs the State concerning his conviction for the murder of former Minister Koro Ceesay. It will also deliver Judgement in the case of the Kanifing Municipal Council vs. The Ministry of Regional Government, Religious Affairs and Lands and others concerning allegations of improper interference by the defendants in the management of the Council.

The Court will also hear the cases concerning the practice of female circumcision (Almami Gibba and others vs the Attorney General), a challenge to the consideration of the 2025 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure of the State by the National Assembly (Sait Matty Jaw and others vs the Clerk of the National Assembly and others) as well as a challenge to the constitutionality of the Commission of Inquiry (Amendment Act) 2023 (Lamin Dabo and others vs. The Attorney General and Clerk of the National Assembly). All litigants, their counsel and representative are required to attend and on time to their respective sessions.
